Homemade waffles.

We now have a waffle maker.
And I'm afraid this portends serious addiction..

Here is the recipe I used (through smitten kitchen):

Rich Buttermilk Waffles
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 3/4 cups buttermilk or 1 1/2 cups sour cream or plain yogurt thinned with 1/4 cup milk
2 eggs, separated
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick butter, melted and cooled)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Canola or other neutral oil for brushing on waffle pan
Combine the dry ingredients. Mix together the buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt and the egg yolks. Stir in the butter and vanilla.
Brush the waffle iron lightly with oil and preheat it. Stir the wet into the dry ingredients. Beat the egg whites with the whisk or electric mixer (spotlessly clean ones work best) until they hold soft peaks. Stir them gently into the batter.
Spread a ladleful or so of batter onto the waffle iron and bake until the waffle is done, usually 3 to 5 minutes, depending on your iron. Serve immediately or keep warm for a few minutes in a low oven.

My heart broke.

Ok, so what on earth America, how many more shootings need to be done to finally realize that something has to be done about it?

Jeans perfect.

This is by far my favorite jeans lately, I can't seem to get it off of me and I ended up to the conclusion that maybe I am the biggest fan of the high-risers right now.

Skinny, high riser jeans  from a  favorite one.

Flowers of the week.

These roses were really beautiful, even though they didn't last too long..(snif)

Spoil me.

Hepcat shades from Madewell and a little treat from Diptyque..

Pecan pie.

This is a new addiction to the family lately and it's really easy to make. This is the recipe that I used for the filling (adopted from everyday musings):

Mix with a whisk:
3 eggs
2/3 cup white sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup syrup (mix of dark, light, and maple)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Pour over 1 1/2 cup pecans in unbaked crust. Bake for 55 minutes at 350 degrees and cool before eating.

For the crust I used a basic recipe for sable crust. You can find one alike here

The good thing is that you don't have to prebake the crust, you just put the filling in the unbaked crust and you bake all of it at once.
;)

Beauty.

Heat wave lipstick from Nars, a gift from my friend, Alex.

I'll keep you posted (and I'm really curious to tell you the truth) on how this product works since I've only been hearing the best for this brand. Did you know they're having this (amazing) Andy Warhol limited collection? mmmm..

Homemade iced coffee.

The few times I remember myself ordering iced coffee (I think I'm more of an espresso person(?)), ended up rather disappointing, making me think what's all that fuss about. How could all those people drink that thing? I don't know if it was the places I chose to have one, but not even once lived up to my expectations. So, when I found this recipe for homemade iced coffee and all the ravings about, I thought it was time to give it a last shot. It was the first time I drank iced coffee and loved it, yes- such a pleasant surprise..

My version had a bit of star anise and a bit of cinammon for some aroma and it was the best companion for the late afternoon..

In search of the perfect basic tee.

Here is a thing I have: when I find the one, I want to have it in every possible (basic) color. (The truth is I wouldn't mind having the bold and striped ones as well!)
Perfect fit+the softest cotton, really. From Gap, at a ridiculous (black friday) price.

Sunday scones (with roasted pears and chocolate chunks).

One of the fine things of life. Bake and have your house filled with smells from the oven. Combined with a sunny (but bit chilly) weekend morning there you have it all there..

This is a recipe from Deb and I love the idea of a pear and chocolate mix. Find it here.
